Description

Beekeeper brix refractometers RHB-92ATC is designed to work with (58-90%) sugar related liquids: (honey, maple syrup, treacle, syrup etc.). It uses ambient light only and no batteries are needed. Baume scale is a measure of how dense the sugar (honey, maple syrup etc) is related to the density of water. The correct density for maple syrup is a minimum of 66% sugar (66°Brix/35.6°Baume). Brix of honey can be from about 70 to 88.
Measuring range:
58-90% – Brix

Calibration

Requires a known % brix standard solution for accurate calibration or use extra virgin olive oil and set at 71.5 on the Brix scale. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vbOE-w_preY

Focus (the the eye end) so that you can read the scale. Requires a known % brix standard solution for accurate calibration or use extra virgin olive oil and set at 71.5 on the Brix scale. Olive oil should spread across the entire surface. Wait about 30 seconds and view under light. Adjust the blue horizon to read 71.5 with a screwdriver or the adjustment nut, depending on the model design. The unit is now calibrated. Dry with a clean cloth or tissue. Add sample and close cover so that there are no air bubbles. Read the content indicated by the blue horizon line. Dry and clean and replace in storage container.
